Discover the beauty of Santorini in 2021

Santorini is considered the most romantic destination in Greece and we provide Santorini Private Tours because we know Santorini by heart. After all, you do not often find white majestic states built on the edge of the cliff, with picturesque villages, cobbled alleys and impressive churches bathed in light. Couples in love come every year to the volcanic island of Santorini.

Santorini  is located in the southernmost point of the Cyclades and is essentially a complex of islands consisting of the islands of Thira, Thirasia, Aspronisi, Palea and Nea Kameni. Santorini proudly spreads its beauty on the wild rock, ignoring the threat of the volcano and over the last part of the lost world of Atlantis. 80.000 years before the island of Santorini was born, when the first eruption of the volcano created Stroggili.

The island was born from a destruction. The Columbus volcano sank, releasing the forces it held in its bowels, and left behind, when the ashes settled, the most beautiful rock on Earth. The elements of nature, fire, water and air conspired to create a unique meeting point for the blue of the sea and the blue of the sky. Nature was in a great mood, on the day when the sunlight welcomed Santorini.

 Oia

The settlement of Oia in Santorini is the first preserved traditional settlement in Greece, with houses dug into the rock. Thousands of visitors from Greece and around the world arrive every summer in Oia to enjoy the unique beauty and the stunning view of the caldera and the games of colors. It is worth visiting the Maritime Museum and the traditional settlement of Finikia which is only 1.5 km away. Santorini is famous all over the world for its dream sunset. In the Caldera, in the West of the Sun, every day many people gather to see the sun disappear in the endless blue of the Aegean, having the wonderful yellow-red colors of the sun. Do not miss it!

Swim in the two bays of Ammoudi, descending 214 steps, and Armeni. Also the beaches of Baxedes and Kouloumpos are only about 3 km and are located on the outside of the island. Oia is an ideal place for a relaxing holiday. In its picturesque streets you will find many shops for shopping, luxury restaurants and cafes and quiet bars all with unique sea views. You can stay in traditional houses built in caves and newly built apartments that followed the rock line offering idyllic accommodation and great view.

Firostefani

Firostefani is the area between Imerovigli and Fira, from here you can have amazing sunsets. The small square in Firostefani is filled early in the afternoon with a crowd of tourists of all nationalities. There are plenty of cafes and bars on the west side. There you can enjoy Greek music in Santorini. There are many restaurants and snack bars but also more sophisticated and trendy places of entertainment and leisure. Firostefani is not as quiet as Imerovigli or noisy as Fira. In fact, it is an ideal location, because it is located between Fira and Imerovigli, which have essentially merged, each with its own style.

Accommodation in Firostefani is chosen by those who love the movement and the intense life of Fira, but at the same time want peace. In the clubs and restaurants of Fira, you can walk, short distances in about 10 minutes. Car use is not recommended due to traffic and parking difficulties at the entrance to the city. Here you will find some interesting restored mansions and several hotels and accommodation. Firostefani is a place for all budgets and tastes.

Imerovigli

Imerovigli is one of the most famous resorts of Santorini, a few kilometers from Fira and they are almost united and are a continuation of the island’s capital. Imerovigli is relatively quieter and more suitable for accommodation for those who love tranquility. There are several accommodations and hotels as well as shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. The view is magnificent as in Oia and Fira. The castle of Skaros In Imerovigli, as in the whole of Santorini, there are many churches and chapels. The church of Theoskepasti is one of the most interesting, it is built on the edge of a rock in front of the rock of Skaros.

Another interesting church is that of the Panayia of Malta which took its name, according to tradition from an image found in the sea near Malta, on a trip from Santorini to Malta to transport wine. The captain of the ship, driven by the dreams of the Virgin Mary, took the image from the sea and brought it to Imerovigli, where the church was built. The wooden iconostasis has scenes from the Old Testament. The original church was built in the 19th century, but was destroyed by the earthquake of 1956 and a new church was built on the site. You can take a tour of Santorini!

Kamari

Kamari is an important tourist resort of Santorini, close to the airport on the east side of the island with plenty of greenery, eucalyptus and tamarisk and a vast sandy beach with black pebbles. Just above Kamari is the archeological site of Ancient Thira, in Mesa Vouno. You can enjoy your swim in the beautiful beach that extends to Monolithos. The sea is ideal for windsurfing. You will find hotels, rooms to let and camping, as well as along the beach there are restaurants, cafes, bars, discos and clubs with Greek music, shopping malls, bakeries, supermarkets, ATMs and a Health Center.

Visit the village Up Corner

It is located 8 km from Fira and is close to the village Pyrgos. It is a small village built amphitheatrically on a slope. It has beautiful churches, mansions and houses, several of which retain their traditional architecture. You will enjoy the best view from Agios Charalambos. The church of Agios Charalambos is said to have been founded in 1705. The monastery was dissolved in 1833 along with many other male monasteries.

The following year the church was ceded to the Municipality of Kallisti. In 1893 another church was demolished and built, in the type of a three-aisled basilica with a dome and a three-aisled sanctuary. After the earthquake of 1926, it was also demolished. The parish committee decided to establish in 1941 on the outskirts of the village, at the point where we see it today, the third church of Agios Charalambos.

Book a tour to the volcano

You have the opportunity to discover Nea Kameni, the Hot Waters, as well as the picturesque island of Thirassia. See the craters of the Volcano and be informed about all its activity. Visit the island of Palea Kameni and the thermal Hot Waters. Do not forget to take a walk on the picturesque island of Thirasia, so book a tour!

The lost Atlantis of Plato, with which Santorini is connected, may never be found, but Santorini exists and is a destination that everyone should visit once in their lifetime. There is no tourist guide on the planet who does not agree with this. On one side Akrotiri, on the other Oia and in the middle Fira. Firostefani, Imerovigli, Skaros. With the cave houses, you can not understand if they go down or up the vertical rock, from where one can touch the sun. And enjoy at the end of each day the mystagogy of the sunset. Trust us and book a private tour to see Santorini now!

9 Things You Should Definitely Do in Santorini!

9-things-you-should-definitely-do-in-santorini

9 Things You Should Definitely Do in Santorini!

Are you preparing your luggage to Santorini? There are 9 things you should definitely do in Santorini!

Travel to Santorini! At last!

After endless conversations and a remarkable battle, you have persuaded your loved one to visit the most romantic island of the Aegean Sea!

With a shape that resembles a little croissant and a reputation spread to the most remote countries abroad, one is for sure… This island of Cyclades will surely steal your heart.

Enjoy your vacation in Santorini by booking now Santorini Tours and Santorini Transfers!

9-things-you-should-definitely-do-in-santorini

1. Try local Santorini tastes

It would be a tragic mistake to go to Santorini and not taste the delicious local dishes. It is one of the top culinary destinations in the Aegean Sea for its own food as well as for its own restaurants and taverns with its unique decoration and unique view.

There are taverns and restaurants for all pockets, but you have to be careful because you are most likely to choose the wrong tavern and pay a very expensive lunch. To be sure your money and experience will be worth, choose places with award-winning chefs.

Try the famous fava and tomato bites of the island, well-known cod, scandamacarona and known as meatballs of poor or pseudo-bite (meatballs of various herbs and legumes).

2. Tour to Akrotiri, Santorini

Akrotiri is a top destination if you are a history lover. Although not so advertised as Vergina or Mycenae, it is one of the most important archaeological sites of the whole Aegean, at a distance of 15km from Fira.

Paving streets, exceptional frescoes and finds of an ancient civilization that has remained in obscurity for more than 3,500 years will make you stand out.

3. Visit the Santorini Museum of Prehistoric Hunting

The Prehistoric Hunting Museum is definitely one of the museums to visit. It is easily accessible, with great exhibits and very important finds from excavations. Often those who visited it say that it looks like a “dive into the dangers of Aegean history“.

It can be easily combined with the visit to Akrotiri, completing it. Only for the Prehistoric Thera Museum the price is €6, while there is a combined ticket.

4. See the Santorini sunset

The magical sunset of Santorini is by itself the main attraction of thousands of tourists every year because of the amazing color palette it creates during its set. The castle of Oia is the top choice for sunset but it is not the only place where you can admire the unique feeling of the sunset in Santorini.

At Faros in Akrotiri, the sun literally looks diving in the sea, while the world is much less than in Oia. At the beach of Vrychada the volcanic scenery creates a very special atmosphere, while the view from Imerovigli, Prophet Elias or Firostefani is equally seductive.

5. Go for a Santorini dive

Perhaps only diving lovers can appreciate the uniqueness of such an experience. The bottom of Santorini is far from common. You can take a tour of Santorini!

Besides its rich underwater treasures such as redfish, colorful sponges or sea slugs with its wonderful colors, you will have the chance to admire volcanic rocks, unique in the Mediterranean.

Alternatively you may rent a car in Santorini.

6. Stay in a Santorini cave home

Another unique experience that this magical island offers. Cave houses are essentially houses that are built in the rock. They are built by the locals in this way to protect themselves from the winds.

They offer dew in the summer and heat in the winter while the architecture gives them an unbeatable beauty in the landscape. If you are claustrophobic try it for one night. Worth!

7. Try Santorini wine from a winery

Apart from the fantastic sunset and the archaeological interest of the region, the volcanic vineyards of more than 3200 years of age attract numerous wine lovers every year.

Visit some of the region’s award-winning wineries and travel to the world of senses in a different way.

8. Have an organized Santorini tour

In case your stay allows, please visit the travel agencies of the area and choose one of the Santorini Tours that suits you. The view of the area at sea is something you will remember forever!

We recommend packages that include a visit to the Volcano, the Hot Springs and swimming in the famous beaches.

9. Visit Santorini, Emporio Thera

Emborio or Nimborios is 12 km away from Fira and is the largest village of Santorini. It was part of the sale – and probably of production – of the products during the 17th century, and often residents of the area visit the village for supplies.

The medieval Kastelli and the Tower of Goulas, located in the village, are a masterpiece of architecture and definitely worth a visit.

Santorini is definitely one of the top destinations and not only. The scenic and unique landscape creates unbelievable feelings, while the various activities that can be made during the tour allow the combination of romantic, active and educational activities.

Santorini: A Great Gastronomic World

santorini-tours

Santorini: A Great Gastronomic World

Santorini is not just the most emblematic island of Greece. It is also the home of a gastronomic cosmopolitanism, a paradise for lovers of special, elegant and authentic flavour.

The cuisine of the island is based mainly on its agricultural products, fed with its volcanic soil, the coolness of the sea and the Aegean sun.

The theatrical land offers not only a spectacular sight. The villages of Santorini also give birth to products blessed by nature – excellent fresh products – for original, tasty, healthy foods with divine flavours, simple, primary.

With an immediacy that penetrates the mind and touches the heart directly!

The famous Santorini Gastronomy

So let’s go around the “temples” of pleasure, where thousands of people from all over the world are bowed every year.

There are too many options to taste the famous Santorini gastronomy. Greek restaurants with traditional recipes, creative with new refined ideas, taverns with local appetizers…

Discover the hidden in the hinterland or by the sea taverns and let yourself in the moment where flavours and aromas, married harmoniously, are recorded indelibly in your memory.

1. Meet the Santorini fava

The best of Santorini’s diet, is “the fava“, as the locals call it. A gift of nature on the island – a product now Protected Designation of Origin – is an ancient fruit with a distinct natural flavour.

A taste that the Minoans enjoyed several thousand years ago is still unparalleled in our dish. Taste the freshly sprinkled with just it aromas and a bit of butter as an appetizer.

“Married” with tomatoes, onions and capers, with eggplant sauce or pork chunks as a regular meal. Fava-soup, fava-meatballs, fava-rice, fava in omelettes. Fava everywhere!

2. Meet the legendary Santorini tomato

Another favourite product of Thira, is the legendary Santorini tomato. Red, smoky and aromatic is the king of the local traditional salad with lobster, katsouni (a dry cucumber), capers and goat cheese.

The greatness of simplicity! Enjoy it in fluffy tomato balls or in a piece of “Thira” type tomato juice.

3. Meet the Santorini white eggplants

Similarly, the delicious white eggplants that impress with their silky texture are also excellent in a plethora of deep-tasting Mediterranean dishes.

It is worth even trying it plain in a simple eggplant sauce or in a Santorini moussaka, a hug with small potatoes and round courgettes that are being produced in the island. Let all summer sit on your plate!

4. Meet Santorini fresh fish

When the appetite “wants a fish“, choose from an abundance of fresh sea treasures from the nearby fishing grounds.

A delicious idea is the local Mprantada. It is accompanied by a garlic sauce with eggplant. You can also try smelt pies, or savoir fish, fried with vinegar and garlic.

5. Meet traditional Santorini treats

Leave space in the end for a sweet spoon of small tomatoes Jams, garnished with cinnamon and whole almonds. If you are lucky, you will try melletinia, a traditional Easter candy, or sugarplum, a classic wedding treat.

Apart from the traditional desserts, you will also taste “sophisticated” flavours such as tiramisu with roasted eggplant, almond praline and sunflower sauce or kantaifi sauce, with an improbable mizithra mousse. All Divine!

The famous Santorini wines

An excellent food company at the table will keep you the famous Santorini wines. Asyrtiko, Athiri, Aidani, Mandilaria, Mavratragano are just some of the dozens of native varieties that have been popular over the centuries on the island, sinking their roots deep in the volcanic soil.

The Thira vines shaped on terraces to facilitate the cultivation and knitting of the bunch-shaped stump to protect the fruit from the “great” winds and the relentless Cycladic sun, are characteristic elements of the environment.

The peculiarity of Santorini’s soil and microclimate, coupled with the constant effort of local producers to harness their land, yields high yielding wines with a strong structure, cool acidity, intense metallicity and aromatic complexity.

In the picturesque village of Pyrgos you will find the winery of the rural cooperative and there, on its picturesque balcony that looks like it hovers on the Caldera, you will say goodbye to the beautiful sunset with a glass of Vinsanto wine – this sweet diamond of the Santorini vineyard – or a cool Assyrtiko.

Most wineries can be visited on the island. One can take tours of Santorini to visit Santorini’s sightseeings and wineries.

Take a Santorini private tour

Santorini private tours offer tasting tours of production sites and vineyards; visits to museums and traditional canaves are some of the options that will give you an intoxicating experience.
