History of Perissa
According to Ptolemaios, a geographer, mathematician and astronomer, who lived in the 2nd century, Perissa is the ancient Greek town Eleysina which was the beach of ancient Thira. According to ancient findings, in the year of 1836, this place was actually an ancient city.
During the Byzantine Empire a new town with a lot of wealth was built over the ruins of ancient Eleysina. This Byzantine city fell apart during the monarchy of the emperor Leonta the 3nd Isayroy.
