Santorini Airport Transfer Prices by Village

All prices are per vehicle, not per person, and include luggage and waiting time.

From 40€ – Kamari, Monolithos, Agia Paraskevi, Mesaria, Karterados, Vothonas, Exo Gonia and Mesa Gonia. These are the villages closest to the airport, five to ten minutes away.

Fira, Firostefani and Imerovigli – ten to twenty-five minutes, on the caldera rim. Ask about the walk from the drop-off point, which in Imerovigli can be substantial.

Pyrgos, Megalochori, Emporio, Perissa and Perivolos – fifteen to twenty-five minutes, on the southern half of the island.

Oia, Finikia and Baxedes – around thirty minutes, at the northern tip. Our dedicated Oia and Finikia transfer covers this end.

Akrotiri and the southwest – around twenty-five minutes.

Larger groups. A Santorini airport transfer is priced by vehicle, so We run mini buses as well as cars, so a group of eight travels in one vehicle at one price rather than splitting across taxis.

The Alternatives to a Private Santorini Airport Transfer

An honest comparison, because a private Santorini airport transfer is not always the right answer.

The public bus instead of a Santorini airport transfer. Cheap, a couple of euro, and it goes from the airport to the central station in Fira. From there you change for everywhere else. It is fine if you are travelling light, staying in Fira, and arriving in daylight in season. It is not fine with luggage, with children, after dark, or if you are staying anywhere the second bus does not reach.

Taxi. Santorini has a very small licensed fleet – a number that surprises people every summer. When two aircraft land together the rank empties in minutes and the wait can be long. Fares are metered and not always predictable.

Hire car from the airport. Sensible if you were hiring one anyway. Less sensible as an arrival plan, because you collect it, load it and then drive an unfamiliar narrow road tired.

Hotel shuttle. Many hotels run one. Always ask when booking rather than assuming, and check whether it is free.

Shared shuttle. Cheaper per head than a private Santorini airport transfer and it waits until it is full, then drops several parties before yours.

When a private transfer wins. With luggage, with children, after dark, in a group, on a tight connection, or when your accommodation is anywhere other than central Fira. For two people going to Fira in daylight with hand luggage, the bus is genuinely fine and we will tell you so.

Arriving at Thira Airport

Knowing what the airport is actually like before your Santorini airport transfer removes most of the anxiety about the transfer.

The scale. It is small. One terminal, one baggage hall, and an arrivals area you can cross in twenty paces. You will not lose your driver in it.

The peak. In July and August several aircraft land within the same hour and the baggage hall fills completely. Expect twenty to forty minutes between wheels down and standing outside.

The pavement. Everything happens on one strip in front of the terminal – buses, taxis, hire car desks, hotel shuttles and transfer drivers. It is busy and it is brief.

Facilities. Limited. A café, a small shop, and not much else. Do not plan on a long wait being comfortable.

Delays. Common in high summer, and weather cancellations happen. Because we track the flight, a delayed arrival changes nothing about your Santorini airport transfer.

Departures. Allow more time than the size of the airport suggests. Security is a single line and it backs up. We recommend leaving your hotel two and a half hours before a summer departure, and we will build that into the return booking.

Transfers From Athinios Port

The same Santorini airport transfer service covers the ferry port, and the case for booking it there is stronger still.

What Athinios is like. A quay cut into the base of the caldera cliff twelve kilometres south of Fira, with one hairpin road climbing out of it. Several hundred people, their luggage and a queue of vehicles come off a ferry onto a very short strip of concrete at the same moment.

The crowd at the top of the ramp. A wall of people holding signs. If yours is among them you walk to the vehicle and leave. If it is not, you join the queue for a bus that fills, or a taxi rank that empties.

We track the boat. Ferries run late frequently. The driver knows where the vessel is and waits, at no extra charge.

Not the old port. Cruise passengers land below Fira at the old port, reached only by cable car, steps or donkey. No road goes there, so no Santorini airport transfer or port transfer can collect from it. Our shore excursion is built around that.

Which Village Are You Going To?

The Santorini airport transfer itself is straightforward. What varies is the last hundred metres, and that is worth knowing before you land.

Flat, vehicle to the door. Kamari, Monolithos, Agia Paraskevi, Mesaria, Perissa, Perivolos, Akrotiri village. No steps, no walking, no problem with luggage. Kamari · Mesaria · Perissa.

Mostly fine, occasional steps. Karterados, Vothonas, Vourvoulos, Exo Gonia, Emporio outside the kastelli. Karterados · Emporio.

Pedestrian lanes, expect to walk. Megalochori, Pyrgos, Finikia and the older parts of Emporio are built for donkeys, not vehicles. The walk is short but it is on cobbles. Megalochori · Pyrgos · Finikia.

Steps, and sometimes a great many. Fira, Firostefani, Imerovigli and Oia are built down a cliff face. Some cave suites are two hundred steps below the nearest road. This is the single most common unpleasant surprise on the island. Imerovigli · Oia.
