three-days-in-santorini-2022-what-not-to-miss

Three days in Santorini 2022 are not enough, but it is all that is needed for the visitor to get a very good idea of this unique island and to return. Read below in detail which parts of Santorini you should definitely visit with the help of Santorini Tours during your stay even AIkido Pharma Files Patent Application for the Use of Ketamine to Treat Alzheimer’s Disease how to purchase steroids activity – legal steroids in nigeria, what does anabolic mean – pro pick for only three days on the island, to be sure that you saw the most important part of it, although you should not doubt that Santorini still has a lot to offer show!

Fira

Fira is the capital of Santorini, located in the middle, at the “eyebrow” of the caldera and gathers not only most of the services, but also the visitors. Throughout the year the small town is buzzing with life: Supermarkets, grocery stores, shops, banks and public services are located around the main square of the town, Theotokopoulos Square, while travel agencies, hotels and rooms to let, restaurants and bars can be found in almost every alley, especially of course in the caldera.

Museums, churches, monuments, galleries, the traditional neighborhoods where the architecture of the island stands out, you can find everything in abundance. The same abundance prevails in the entertainment options, as apart from the restaurants and cafes, many of which seem to “hang” from the caldera, Fira claims the first place in the night entertainment of Santorini, as in the alleys there are many bars and club.

In Fira, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy another unique experience. From Gialos, the old port where the cruise ships dock when they visit the island, a cable car starts that leads its enchanted passengers to the top of the caldera. An alternative choice for those who want to go down to the small port, walk among the small shops and taste fresh fish in the taverns, are the 600 stone steps.

If you still do not want to walk the distance yourself, you can use the donkeys, the nice animals that have been used for this purpose for many, many years. From Gialos one can also board a boat for a tour of the Volcano, Palea and Nea Kameni and Thirasia, while many admit that no one can understand the majesty of Santorini if one does not see the caldera and the sea.

Oia

Oia of Santorini is the most famous settlement of the island, known to the ends of the world for its unique sunset, when the sun sinks in the blue sea behind the volcano… It is built in the northern part of the caldera and is a traditional settlement with all white houses, captain’s houses and caves, bright colors, and the blue domes of the churches adorn the image.

It has all the tourist infrastructure of a modern destination, a rich market with shops and public transport that connects it daily with many itineraries, especially in the summer months, with Fira, the capital of the island which is about 11 km away. The main road, parallel to the caldera, is paved and together with the alleys perpendicular to it is the “heart” of Oia. The village has been identified with the sunset of Santorini, as everyone gathers on the terraces and terraces around the castle of Agios Nikolaos to face such an everyday, but at the same time uniquely impressive spectacle. You can take a tour of Santorini!

The volcano

There is no other island in the world like Santorini and it owes its uniqueness mainly to the volcano, so it does not make sense to visit the island and not see this natural phenomenon up close. It is active, while the Minoan Explosion is considered the largest in world history. Since then, the volcano of Santorini erupted many times over the centuries, constantly changing the image of the island, creating and destroying various small islands around its perimeter.

When the locals call it a volcano, they mean the small island of Nea Kameni, in the center of the almost circular perimeter formed by Santorini, Thirasia and Aspronisi. In Nea Kameni, after all, one can see fumes emitting steam from the bowels of the earth, while only about 60 years ago its most recent soils were formed, during the explosion of 1950. Right next to it, Palea Kameni is the island that was formed before from about 2,000 years, at the eruption of 47 AD.

Today, visitors to Santorini have the opportunity not only to gaze at the volcano from the cliff of the caldera or to see it by sea up close, but also to walk it. The boats for the volcano start both from Gialos, the old port of Santorini below Fira, Athinios, the modern port of the island, but also from Ammoudi, the port of Oia. The first stop is in Nea Kameni followed by Palea Kameni, where guests can dive in the hot springs.

Kastelli Emporio

Kastelli of Emporio of Santorini is the best preserved of the other four castles of the island. Located in the center of the modern settlement, many of its buildings have been restored by its owners and are inhabited, while many of its churches are still preserved.

It was created by the Venetian rulers of Santorini around the 15th century and today is one of the most important sights of Santorini. Its oldest church is the impressive Panagia Mesiani, dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin, probably built in the 16th century and has an impressive bell tower.

Have-an-unforgettable-experience-in-Santorini-2022

Santorini or Thira, is the most famous island in the Aegean Sea and the Cyclades. It is one of the most famous tourist centers in the world, as it is famous for its sunset, the beaches with red and black pebbles, the caldera and its wine. You can discover every corner of Santorini 2022 with Santorini Tours.

Although Oia in Santorini is known for its sunset, it would be good to avoid it at that time as it is usually very crowded. Alternatively if you want to discover this side of the island you can start from the bottom, from the bay to Ammoudi. At the end the rocks end in a small cove from where you can enjoy swimming in the Caldera and go swimming to the church of Agios Nikolaos for diving.

Santorini together with Milos, Methana and Nisyros are still an active volcano and one of the few in the world whose crater is located in the sea. Besides, this island complex was created due to the intense volcanic activity and according to the mythology it emerged from the sea. Here are the main reasons to come to Santorini 2022.

See one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world in Santorini 2022

Santorini is famous around the world for its sunset. Many couples flock to the island in order to enjoy it. There are a lot of people at sunset, but it is definitely worth it. The most famous place that gathers the most people is the Castle of Oia. But for those who are not fans of chatter, there are more secluded places that we recommend so you can enjoy it in peace.

In Pyrgos, which is one of the villages that you should definitely visit due to its incomparable beauty, there is one of the most famous cafe-bars of Santorini and offers wonderful cocktails you can enjoy the sunset from the highest point of the island.

It is an experience that will be unforgettable! Another option is to see the sunset from Akrotiri, which is further away and quieter than Oia. In addition, for a more colorful sunset you can visit the beach of Vlychada, as its volcanic landscape changes colors at sunset. For those who choose the closest destinations, there are Fira, Firostefani and Imerovigli.

Try Santorini wine in a wine tour, one of the most delicious in Greece

Santorini is very popular for its wine, especially for white. The volcanic soil of the island favors the vinification of wines with a special aroma and special personality, which of course are reflected in the taste. Vinsanto offers more than 50 varieties with the best of them.

Other famous varieties that are worth trying are Athiri, Aidani, Mantilaria and Mavrotragano. There are about 13 vineyards that host for a small fee tasting wines and local food flavors that combine perfectly with the wine. Some wineries even function as museums, for the most theoretical and knowledgeable winemakers.  So, enjoy a Santorini wine tour with us and take advantage of the opportunity to taste fine wines while admiring the sunset and the view of the volcano and the caldera.

Have a unique experience exploring Santorini’s villages

The most special and special experience that the island offers is the famous caldera which is the only habitable in the world. Arrange to see the volcano of the island up close. Of course, it is very hot and has a special smell due to the sulfur, but this makes it an even more intense travel experience. You can see parts of the active volcano that have split from the island to emerge at the other end of the Caldera, these are the islands of Palea and Nea Kameni.

Every day from the port of Fira depart boats for the volcano and the neighboring island of Thirasia which are worth boarding as it is a unique experience, to be above an active volcano. You will be as close as possible to the heart of the Atlantis legend. Of course, if you can not stand the heat and the sun, it is better to stay to admire the Caldera from a cafe on the island.

The capital of the island is Fira, which are built on the Caldera, 260 meters above sea level and have a wonderful view of the clear blue waters of the Aegean. Also, Firostefani, Imerovigli and Oia stretch along the caldera and will enchant you, each in its own unique way. The settlement of Oia is the first in Greece that was judged to be preserved, as it looks like a work of art, which is natural and has no human intervention, since its rocks were sculpted and carved in a unique way from the lava of the volcano.  You can take a tour of Santorini!

In the village of Akrotiri, which is about 10 km from Fira, there is the most important discovery of the Eastern Mediterranean that concerns the prehistoric settlement that was first inhabited in 4500 BC. Pyrgos is a jewel and attraction village for many tourists who seek tranquility and natural beauty. It is 5-10 minutes from Fira and is the most beloved village of the island, as in 1800 it was the capital of Santorini and to this day retains the glamor of the past. The highest peak of the island is located in this village, in the church of Profitis Ilias, from where you can see the most beautiful view of the island and the sunset.

Still, Megalochori seems like a painting with its sculpted rocky houses and incredible tranquility. There are also many wineries that you can visit. You can also visit the windmills on the hill of Gavriilos which, especially at night with shaving, seem extremely romantic.

Santorini: A guide to your trip to the volcanic island

Santorini-a-guide-to-your-trip to-the-volcanic-island
Book a Santorini tour in 2022!

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Greece and around the world, Santorini, offers ideal options to enjoy every moment of your vacation, including Santorini Tours. Thira (official name of the island), commonly known as Santorini, is located in western Greece, in the Aegean Sea and belongs to the group of islands, called Cyclades.

Thira consists of Santorini, Thirasia and the uninhabited islands, Old and New Kameni, Aspronisi and Christiana. The capital of the island is the beautiful Fira.

Name of the island

From ancient times until today, it has received 5 names (Thira, Santorini, Kallisti or Kallisto and Strongyli).

The current official name of the island comes from the Spartan commander Thira, who according to Herodotus, led the Spartan settlers to the island with the name Kallisti, which means the most beautiful (name of the island in ancient times).

In 1204, with the arrival of the Franks, the island will be named Santorini, in honor of a church of Agia Irini.

For many years the theory prevailed that the name Santorini came from the monastery of Agia Irini built by the Crusaders in Thirasia.

Today there are several indications that the name came from the early Christian church of Agia Irini, which was discovered by an excavation in 1992, in Mesa Vouno.

How Santorini was created

Thousands of years ago, Santorini was a volcanic cone called Strongyli, due to its circular shape. After the eruption of the volcano Riva, a large part of the island sinks, creating a caldera. During the Bronze Age, 1,600 BC would be one of the largest eruptions mankind has ever experienced. The so-called Minoan eruption sank the central part of the island, dividing it into three parts (Santorini, Thirasia, Aspronisi).

The explosion was so powerful that it destroyed the prehistoric civilization that inhabited the island. In 46 BC, magma emerges from the bowels of the earth, creating the foundations of today’s Palea Kameni. In 1570 the foundations of Nea Kameni will be created, which will triple in the last 150 years, taking its current form. Nea Kameni is a volcanic island in the center of the Caldera and is the most recently created section of land in the Mediterranean Sea.

Was Santorini in the past the lost Atlantis?

Excavations at Akrotiri have brought to light one of the most important prehistoric civilizations in the Aegean. Researchers believe that this ancient civilization could have been the lost Atlantis, as Plato’s descriptions speak of a circular island (Santorini before the eruption), which due to earthquakes and explosions, sank in the Sea and destroyed the Atlanteans. one day.

In Santorini you will find the museum lost Atlantis experience, the first museum of lost Atlantis in the world. It is located in Megalochori and is open from 9 in the morning until 9 in the evening. A unique experience that will convince you that Santorini was in fact the Lost Atlantis.

How to get to the volcano of Santorini?

Taking the cable car from Fira or going down the stairs to the old port. Then, with Santorini Tours you can take a trip to the volcano. Just the thought of being on an active volcano, raises the adrenaline to the heights.

Santorini belongs to the active volcanic arc of the Aegean together with Methana (Peloponnese), Sousaki (Peloponnese), Milos (Cyclades), Nisyros and Kos.

The volcanic complex of Santorini includes Nea Kameni, Palea Kameni, Columbus and the Christian islands. The complex has two active volcanic pores.

The one is located on the land of the island of Nea Kameni (last eruption in 1950) and the other, the underwater active volcanic resource Columbus (last eruption in 1650 AD) is located northeast of the homonymous cape.

Beaches of Santorini

Although Santorini is not famous for its turquoise beaches, it has some of the rarest volcanic beaches in the world. After the Minoan eruption, a layer of ash covered the east coast of Santorini. The coasts were extended by 2 km, resulting in a huge beach with black sand. This beach is divided into three smaller ones, Perissa, Kamari and Perivolos.

If you are looking for secluded beaches with impressive landscapes or family beaches with various sports activities, Santorini has the whole package. The island is famous for its romance but that does not mean that it does not have beaches with beach bars for frantic parties. The most famous beaches of Santorini are the red beach, the white beach, the monolith and Vlychada. You can take a tour of Santorini!

Varieties of Santorini wines

Santorini has one of the oldest vineyards in the world, which due to its unique, dry climate and the special composition of the soil, produces one of the most special and famous varieties of the Mediterranean, Assyrtiko. Santorini wines are characterized by strong aromas and intense flavors.

If you are a fan of sweet wine, we highly recommend Vinsanto. It is a sweet wine that is served as a liqueur and has stolen the impressions worldwide. Its vinification is made from sun-dried grapes.

Nychteri is a white dry wine whose fermentation process took place at night, which is why it got the appropriate name. If you are looking for a wine rich in alcohol, brusco seems to be the ideal one for you. Brusco is red wine produced from white and red grapes. The winery in Santorini has developed into one of the leading economic sectors of the island and Greece.
