Our first destination is Akrotiri Archaeological Site, also known as the Minoan Pompeii, one of the most significant prehistoric settlements of the Aegean archaeologists have uncovered. The highlight is the preserved structures and artefacts that allow the visitor to marvel at this wondrous city of antiquity.

Leaving the Akrotiri excavations, we set off to discover the beautiful beaches nearby. The distinctive Red Beach stands true to its name – a remarkably imposing odd formation of red volcanic rock overlooking the beach is a unique sight that should clearly not be missed.

Our next stop will be Megalochori, the ‘big village’. Surrounded by vineyard country, it is one of the most picturesque and traditional villages of the island. Historical mansions with high walls, restored houses, traditional architecture and pirate hideaways are highlights of this distinctive and authentic old settlement.

During our following visit to Venetsanos Winery, we will sip the exquisite local wines and other traditional products. Overlooking the caldera, the location of this winery is remarkable, making it hard to resist the stunning views of the Aegean Sea while enjoying a glass of wine.

Our next stop is Pyrgos, a village that captures all the charm of Santorini while exhibiting characteristics of the Venetian rule. The location of the village offers panoramic views of both sides of the island. The traditional houses and paths are built around the old castle, merging Cycladic with Venetian features and making Pyrgos a village that definitely deserves the visitor’s attention.

The tour ends with a visit to Profitis Ilias Monastery. Built in 1711, at the summit of Mount Profitis Ilias (Prophet Elijah), it stands about 600 meters above sea. No words can describe the superb view of the island, the caldera and the neighboring islands from this point.

All cruise passengers with individual programs are taken to the old Port of Fira, by tender boats. From the port, you will take the cable car up to Fira town.
The journey with a cable car takes 2-3 minutes. Approximate start of the tour should be 90 minutes after the scheduled arrival of the cruise ship.

The meeting point for the tour is at the cable car’s exit in Fira town. Your guide will wait for you there, holding a sign with your name.
